This almost makes me want to return to those days of yore (the early 80s when D&D was new and cool) but I don’t have time or the same interest anymore. But great pitch!
I'm laughing to myself because I'm in the same boat - trying to finish my D&D 5e module series before the Apocalypse destroys the internet. I've watched a number of your interviews, and it has helped me greatly with module design. I really like the ACKs II system and planned on eventually porting modules to that game system, but right now D&D 5e is where the bulk of the interest is.
After the collapse, entertainment that doesn’t require electricity is gonna be needed……especially if it promotes literacy, imagination, improvisation, acting, strategic and tactical thinking, etc….
Serious question bc I don’t do RPGs myself…I have friends that play D&D so should I get this as a gift for them or would they need some additional materials for it to be usable?
It depends what version of D&D they play. If they play old-school D&D it will be eminently useful. If they play D&D 3E or 5E and they enjoy homebrew, it would be moderately useful. If they play "WOTC official D&D" then much less useful.

Indeed! I just can't bring myself to like or support what WOTC is doing. But for third-party creators it is hard to resist the siren song of 5E.

I actually agree in a non-ironic way. I think RPGs are a genuinely excellent hobby.
Need to get it before you are canceled again resulting in an ultra-cancel! Best of luck, Tree!
Congratulations on releasing before WW3/the rapture/alien invasion/solar storm/ice age occurred!
OSR (do we still call it OSR?) material holds a special place in my heart. Always great to get more high quality stuff.
(Me reading this)
Yes, yes.
He has a point!
Quite right.
Hope it goes well...
THAT IS THE WORST LOOKING MORNING STAR I'VE EVER SEEN!!!
WHERE did he get that thing? is it a Trophy taken off a Skaven?!?!
It's obviously a giant chestnut bur painted to match his gear.
Or an unfortunate sea creature. That also happens.
Ah yes, the cursed Man-Eater of the Rio Grande, I should have known.
